One Night in Kasbah


10 oz. Popkoff’s Beef Vareniki
1 (28 oz) can whole tomatoes
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 yellow onion, diced
2 tbsp feta or goat cheese
2 shallots, thinly sliced
A pinch of saffron threads
½ tsp sugar
2 tbsp basil, chopped
salt & pepper to taste

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 40 minutes

Cooking Instructions

  1. Bring large pot of water to boil and add a pinch of salt and 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add Popkoff’s Beef Vareniki and cook for 5 minutes. Drain.
  2. Make pasta sauce by sautéing together can of tomatoes, garlic and yellow onion in a pan, add salt and pepper to taste and saffron.
    Simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Fry or sauté shallots.
  4. Plate sauce and place vareniki on top.
  5. Top with basil, shallots and cheese.
